Last night was crazy… Disney announced a lot of new content last night, mostly for it’s Disney+ platform, and they did not disappoint! Let’s start with Marvel.
First I’ll talk about Hawkeye. Over the past week we have seen tonnes of images surrounding Jeremy Renner and Hailey Steinfeld, playing Clint Barton and Kate Bishop respectively. This one I’m mega excited for. In my opinion Hawkeye was always overlooked but in the MCU he kicked ass, he was awesome. It’s great to see him finally get the recognition he deserves, taking on the role of Ronin permanently whilst he trains Kate to be Hawkeye.
Next we have Secret Invasion. Starring Samuel L Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn, as a follow up from ‘Far From Home’. This will inevitably lead to Avengers 5 I believe, and I believe all of it will. All the films and shows, will leave off at the same point, the biggest movie to date.
Along with this we have the announcements of a Fantastic 4 film (directed by Jon Watts ‘Spider-man: Homecoming’) and Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumnia, which will star Jonathan Majors (‘Lovecraft County’ ‘Da 5 bloods’) as Kang The Conqueror. They also announced that in Black Panther 2, Chadwick Boseman will not be recast, leading many to believe that Shuri could take over the role. Christian Bale is also playing Gorr, The God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder.
There was more on series front, with ‘Ironheart’, ‘Armour Wars’ (Starring Don Cheadle as War Machine), ‘Moon Knight’, ‘I am Groot’, ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special’ and and the offical announcement that Tatiana Maslany will be portraying She-Hulk. Tim Roth and Mark Ruffallo have also been announced to reprise their roles for this series.
There were also trailers for Loki (read my breakdown here) and Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
There were also a fair amount of Star Wars announcements last night, leaving many in shock!
Ashoka has now been confirmed to have her own series set in the timeline of The Mandalorian. This will be starring Rosario Dawson and will expand on her Rebels storyline. Hayden Christensen is returning as Darth Vader for Ewan Mcgregor’s Obi-Wan series, whilst there was an official trailer for The Clone Wars spin-off, The Bad Batch.
Rogue One spin-off ‘Andor’ also finally been given a trailer along with the annoucments of a Patty Jenkins ‘Rogue Squadron’ film and a ‘Rangers of The New Republic’ series, set in The Mandalorian timeline.
Disney also announced a host of animated features such as ‘Lightyear’ (yep Buzz) starring Chris Evans in the role, as well as a ‘Moana’ series and a Zootopia series titled ‘Zootopia+’. Also announced was an FX Alien series created by Noah Hawley and film projects such as ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘Pinochio’ starring Tom Hanks and ‘Peter pan and Wendy’ starring Jude Law as Captain Hook.
There were tonnes I missed, so if you want to read more, click right here.
