Single Review: Liam Gallagher – All You’re Dreaming Of

Liam Gallagher returns in 2020 with the release of ‘All Your Dreaming Of’ in preparation for his virtual live gig Down By The River Thames on the 5th December. The track from former Oasis frontman captures the encapsulates the wintery sound, making the ballad perfect for those dark, crisp mornings and the icy commutes home.

It would be an easy assumption that the Rock n Roll legend, from Manchester, would be more inclined to release a Christmas song with a more of a guitar-driven anthem similar to Slade’s ‘Merry Xmas Everybody’. However, the strings and piano-led ballad is quite the opposite. The song opens with horns section perfectly cut into the track with reverb that makes them sound like a choir out in the distance on a festive December evening walk through your local town, with the track then being foundational built around the piano which accompanies Liam’s (softer than usual) vocals.

Lyrically, the song discusses the difficulties and trouble has faced. The year 2020 especially has been a year where people have generally seen a lot of trauma. However, Gallagher and co-writer look and capture the hope in these troubling times with lyrics like: “Is it the kind of love, That’ll be there when the world is at its worst? That’ll cover you in kisses unrehearsed?”

Overall, ‘All You’re Dreaming Of’ isn’t ground-breaking – but it will bring a tear to your eye, while you raise a glass of mulled wine in your kitchen on a cold-bleak winter night. It might just be the song we all need to hear at this strange moment in time.

All proceeds of the track are going to Action For Children until December 31st.
